Luke 9:7-62 and the Prophetic Role of Jesus. Ravens, D. A.<nbsp>S. New Testament Studies, 36(1):119--129, January, 1990.
abstract bibtex
The study examines details in Lk 9:7-62 to see how Luke used them to present Jesus in the role of prophet. The importance of Elijah, Elisha, and other OT prophets lies not only in that they appear in the Gospel but where they appear. With the reaffirmation of the prophetic role of Jesus by the use of OT prophets, Lk 9:7-62 represents the start of the third part of a wider prophetic pattern in Lk (see 6:13-16, 20-49; 7:2-50 [record 32-1162]).--C.R.M.
