Differences in longevity between genders are discussed, including possible reasons for the greater life span of females. Centenarian populations are also examined. Various factors are examined that may affect the difference in life expectancy found among the world's populations. The article concludes with a review of the biological mechanisms that may explain the differences in longevity between tall and short people.
