The Difficulty of Politics. Sartori, G. In Comparative Constitutional Engineering: An Inquiry into Structures, Incentives and Outcomes, of International Economic Association Series, pages 143–151. Palgrave Macmillan UK, London, 1994.
Paper doi abstract bibtex If we pause to think about it, managing politics was a far easier, indeed an immensely easier matter, say, a century ago. The increasing difficulty of politics results from many reasons. Intellectually it goes back to the late sixties, when the campus revolution brought to the fore a new democratic primitivism. However, the seeds of difficult politics are also technological and have a lot to do with video-democracy. And, in the interim, we are confronted with degenerative processes, especially an escalation of political corruption that corrupts politics itself.
