The aim of this work is to characterize by means of non-destructive methods the Martensitic Transformation (MT) of residual austenite in the stainless steel 304L induced by low-cycle fatigue. Eddy Current testing was performed before and after straining. In addition, other fatigue tests on 304L stainless steel samples were monitored by Acoustic Emission. The martensitic transformation rate was also measured with the help of X-ray diffraction, which enabled to define a calibration curve with Eddy Current. Yet additional phenomena are detected by Acoustic Emission, which require further combined investigations for complete understanding.
