An essay is presented that discusses the relation of Roman Catholic doctrines to the thought of philosopher Edmund Burke. Topics include Catholic aspects of Burke's conservative views, Burke's views on divine Providence in relation to the views of theologian Augustine of Hippo, and the suspicion that Burke was a crypto-Catholic due to his Irish heritage. Anti-Catholic sentiment in England is addressed.
