A narrativa ambiental no jornalismo de referência português. Silva, A. L. P. Technical Report Universidade do Porto, September, 2023.
Paper abstract bibtex As issues related to the environment, sustainability, and climate change become central global concerns, discussing the urgency of the topic in the media is increasingly relevant. It is in this context that Azul, a section of the PÚBLICO newspaper dedicated to environmental issues, is born with a promise: to give a name and a brand to the attention that the newspaper was already giving to this topic and significantly reinforce it. This internship report provides a comprehensive characterization and critical analysis of Azul, which is on a journey to establish its voice in Portuguese journalism and has a clear civic commitment to promoting environmental discourse. In addition to serving as a platform for covering issues related to the environment, sustainability, biodiversity, and the climate crisis, Azul also exemplifies various forms of multimedia usage in environmental storytelling, the promotion of climate literacy in Portugal, and the traits of a symbiotic relationship between environmental journalism and advocacy journalism. Furthermore, this report explores the challenges faced within the section, its funding model, and its relationship with information sources and international agenda-setting.
