We have measured the thermal conductivity of (TaSe4)2I in the chain and perpendicular to chain directions. A strong anisotropy is observed in the temperature range of 80-320 K. The detailed analysis of the temperature dependence in both of directions confirms that in addition to the lattice and free carriers there are very anisotropic contributions to the thermal conductivity coming from the phase fluctuations. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
