In recent years in Italy, the enforcement of the different international Laws and Conventions have established the right of children to be heard directly by the judge in all legal procedures involving them provided they are at least age twelve, or even younger with able discernment or if heard by an expert in developmental psychotherapy/psychology and family relationships.
