Initial flow field of stratified flow past an impulsively started sphere. Torres, C., R., Ochoa, J., Castillo, J., E., & Van Woert, M. Applied Numerical Mathematics, 40(1-2):235-244, 2002.
Paper abstract bibtex Numerical simulations of a linearly stratified diffusive flow past an impulsively started sphere are described. The impulsive start is perpendicular to isophysical surfaces. The equations are transformed to generalized coordinates and then approximated by a finite difference scheme over a suitable grid which resolves both the diffusive and viscous boundary-layers. The results are compared with experimental evidence. © 2002 IMACS. Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
