Health security warning intelligence during first contact with COVID: an operations perspective [link]Paper  doi  abstract   bibtex
Effective community response to health security crises, regardless of attribution, is predicated on access to warning intelligence coupled to response. The American state of Nevada’s experience with COVID is examined here to evaluate lessons learned in bridging health security warning intelligence for the novel coronavirus (COVID) pandemic directly to hospital preparedness and response. This case study is based on the findings of a workshop convened for that purpose. It shows that access to health security warning intelligence enabled avoidance of overwhelming patient demand and compromise of emergency response.
