Archaeological Exavations in the Toledo Bend Reservoir, 1966. Woodall, J. N. Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, 1969. U.S. National Park Service Contract 14-10-0333-1550 ARC Library #145abstract bibtex Excavations at two late Caddoan sites in the Toledo Bend Reservoir region have shown that regional archaeological affinities are with sites to the north-west and west, particularly the Belcher, Titus, and Frankston foci. The Goode Site, a multi-component area at the edge of a salt marsh, produced a large ceramic inventory but little else in the form of aboriginal tools or habitation features, suggesting a temporary camp for salt extraction. An historic component at the site was also explored. The Bison Site is a small Caddoan village midden yielding typical single extended burials with numerous ceramic and stone funerary offerings.
