The ZnCl2 impregnated Montmorillonite catalyst prepared by wet impregnation technique were used for the synthesis of nopol from β-pinene. Furthermore, the reaction conditions over this catalyst for this reaction were optimized to obtain 75% conversion of β-pinene with 97% selectivity for nopol. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
